Corunna Mi. – The Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners voted Thursday to enter into an agreement with Local Attorney Ryan Painter making him the Counties legal counsel.

The existing Counsel is out of Lansing and there has been issues with charges for travel time as well as problems with them not getting back on issues.

This did not go smooth for Commissioner Marlene Webster, who does not along with any of her 6 colleagues, that had according to the other Commissioners tried to backdoor the Board by bringing people in to try and undercut the agreement made by the Board with Mr. Painter.

That exchange will be posted very soon. Webster has repeatedly attacked each member of the Board that were elected by their constituents. She has accused each one of doing illegal things. On Thursday she ratcheted up a notch accusing the Board members of being sneaky and dishonest.

Websters attacks on the Board started at her very first meeting when she stated that the longstanding meeting times and meeting days just would not work for her.

She has, instead of working with her colleagues, had people that were sympathetic to what ever her cause was to come in and attack the Board on her behalf. Most times catching her colleagues clueless to what the people want to attack them on. While other times the people had bad information.

Webster who claims to be a Republican works with no Republicans on the Board but takes council from a few Democrats that also dislike the 6 other Republicans that won their seat in legal elections.

Ryan Painter according to Michigan Prosecutor. Org, “Ryan is the Elder Justice Resource Prosecutor for the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan.  He is a native of Owosso, Michigan.  He is a 2001 graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a 2004 graduate of Notre Dame Law School.  Ryan joined PAAM from the Shiawassee County Prosecutor’s Office.  He also worked as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Indiana, where he was an assistant prosecutor in the major crimes division for St. Joseph County, as well as a drug interdiction prosecutor for Scott County.  Ryan is a member of the Ingham County Elder Abuse Coordinated Community Response Team, the Michigan Association of Check Investigators, the Tri-County Elder Death Review Team, and the Michigan Bar Association Committee for Legal Research, Libraries and Publications.”
