Lansing Mi. (FCNG) – On March 4, the Michigan State Police 138th Trooper Recruit School graduated 55 people out of 65 that started school on September 9, 2020.
One of those troopers who graduated is Brendan Gute. Brendan is the son of Dewitt Police Chief Mike Gute and Lori Gute. Brendan is a 3rd generation LEO.
Brendan and the rest of his class started their training on September 9, 2020. Each recruit receives 1,200 hours of hands-on, lecture, and scenario-based instruction before becoming troopers.
Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer told the class by video, “I am honored to recognize the 55 graduates of the 138th Trooper Recruit School as they join the ranks of the Michigan State Police and begin a career serving the people of Michigan,” Whitmer continued, “Public service is both an honor and a calling. And I know that these new troopers will commit themselves to keep our communities safe and (will) step up to serve our state in times of need. Together we will create a safer and more just Michigan for all.”
On March 7, 2021, 75 people started in the 139th Trooper Recruit School. One must remember that not all will probably graduate. As stated to the recruits on March 4, that graduated, this program is not for all and only a person with a special fortitude will become Michigan State Troopers.
