Corunna, Mi. - Christopher Bryant Stubbs, 29, was arraigned and charged with Homicide – Attempted Murder in the shooting of a man at Rainbow Bar on Dec. 18, 2021. The Register of Action lists - VICTIM/DESC:  RICKY BOGGS/ONTE COOPER. Probable Cause Hearing is set for January 5, 2022, at 8:15 am in front of Judge Ward L. Clarkson. An examination is set for January 11, 2022, at 2 pm.

It was close to 12:30 Saturday morning, December 18, 2021, when a male who was allegedly annoying a female in the packed Rainbow Bar in Westown, Owosso, was being asked to leave. As they got to the back door the person being asked to leave discharged a pistol striking a man and a wall.

Throughout the bar one could hear the pop pop pop of the pistol, most people dropped to the floor or ran out the front door. One could smell the strong fragrance of the propellent (cordite has not been used in years).

The alleged shooter escaped out the back door as several people immediately started rendering first aid to the victim. The hero that started working on trying to stop the blood flow from the victim has asked not to be identified and claims he only did what he was trained to do.

Within minutes 1st responders were on the scene rendering first aid as well as securing the crime scene. The Owosso Police Department and Paramedics worked as though this was a common occurrence though we cannot find where there was ever another shooting like this in Owosso in any of their lifetimes.

The MSP arrived and helped OPD.

Inside the bar, immediately after the shooting, the bar employees jumped into action calming people down, moving people out in an orderly manner so the 1st responders could get in, and cleaning up the mess the patrons made scurrying out.

A fugitive hunt was immediately started and on December 27, 2021, Stubbs surrendered at the Shiawassee County jail.
