Corunna, Mi. - Jacob Kenneth Guild, 28, a Lansing Mi. Resident stood in front of 35th Circuit Court Judge Matthew Stewart on Friday to be sentenced for trying to hook up and pay a 15-year-old girl for sex. 

Guild was arrested in a Shiawassee County Sheriff Sting, SHOT (Shiawassee Human Oppression Team), May 20, 2022. Shiawassee County Sheriff Brian BeGole has put together a large team composed of local police as well as State Police to conduct Sex Stings to help remove predators off the street.  

Mr. Guild who was corresponding by text with a 23-year-old female MSP Trooper, first thought he was talking to a 19-year-old female, however the deputy dropped on Guild that she was only 15 and did he still want to meet up and pay her for sex. 

He did, showed up, tussled with police, and was arrested.  

On Friday, Guild, who has 5 other felonies on his record and according to the Court has a history of sexual deviant behavior, had his attorney argue that it wasn’t his fault. His attorney threw everything he could come up with to see if any could stick to the wall and get his client a lenient sentence. 

It started out with Guild’s father abandoning him and telling him that he never wanted to see him again. Then it went to because of Guild being abandoned that Guild always looks “for love in all the wrong places.” Even if it is with a 15-year-old that he is paying.  

Then the attorney stated that if this happened twenty years ago that Guild would not be here in court because they didn’t do sex stings then. Judge Stewart asked the attorney if it wasn’t still illegal 20 years ago for a 28-year-old having sex with a 15-year-old. The attorney stated yes but his client probably would have never been caught back then. 

After all was said and done, Guild has two more felonies on his record, one for resisting and obstructing, and one for Child Sexual Abusive Activity.  

Judge Stewart sentenced Guild to the Michigan Department of Correction for a minimum of 10 years not to exceed 20 years. That will place Guild at about 38 when he can first be released
